Frequently Asked Questions

(continued)

Question:  What are the credentials and counseling style or approach for each Safe Harbor therapist?

A: In this website, you will find a link to a description of each therapist.  Please feel free to contact that therapist if you have any further questions about him/her.

Question:  What if I need to cancel my appointment or can't make it to my session?

A: You can cancel up to 24 hours before your appointment.  Otherwise, there is a $25.00 fee.  Please remember that unlike physicians which can compensate for late cancelations or no shows by overbooking patients, therapists cannot.  Your session is reserved specifically for you and if you don't show or cancel without proper notice, that session is lost and thus wasted.  The therapist needs at least 24 hours advance notice so that he/she can have the proper time to give that appointment to another patient.

Question:  Besides individual therapy, what other forms of therapy are provided at Safe Harbor?

A: Marital, couples and family therapy are provided in addition to individual and group therapy.  Consultation and educational sessions are also provided to parents and family members whose child or relative is presenting significant issues or conduct but refuses to participate in mental health services.

Question:  Can the therapists at Safe Harbor prescribe medication?

A: No. If you are in need of a medication consultation, a recommendation can be made to a psychiatrist or mental health center that provides those services.
